Seattle Times Endorses Pramila Jayapal for Re-Election

On Sunday, October 21, the Seattle Times editorial board endorsed Pramila Jayapal for re-election to represent Seattle and the surrounding cities comprising Washington's 7th District. Board members praised Jayapal's fierce advocacy and rapid response to the crises created by the Trump administration:

"U.S. Rep. Pramila Jayapal has spent much of her life being a fierce advocate for immigrants, a role she has successfully carried over to her work in Congress. Voters should re-elect her to a second term in the U.S. House of Representatives, where her voice continues to be needed...

She also gained access to a federal detention facility where female asylum-seekers were being held, returning with disturbing and valuable information about how the Trump administration's zero-tolerance policies were separating families at the border...

Jayapal's opponent, Republican Craig Keller, lacks government experience and would not be a constructive addition to Congress. The repeat congressional candidate is the founder of a group called Respect Washington, which fought against Burien's sanctuary city policy and was recently named an anti-immigrant hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Voters in the 7th Congressional District should cast their ballots without hesitation for Jayapal."
