Sherrill tells Webber to talk Gateway with Trump

Mikie Sherrill has something for Jay Webber's to-do list when he sees President Donald Trump at a Washington fundraiser next Thursday: secure funding for a new tunnel under the Hudson River.

"Assemblyman Webber boasted last week at our debate that he could walk into the White House and sit down with President Trump to get the Gateway Tunnel funded," Sherrill said. "I look forward to Assemblyman Webber's press conference next Friday morning announcing the funding for the Gateway Tunnel, so we can move this critical infrastructure project for the country forward."

Trump is headlining a high-dollar fundraiser for Webber at the Trump International Hotel to boost his chances of winning an open House seat in New Jersey's 11th district. The event includes a $20,000-per-person roundtable with Trump, something that gives Webber the chance to score a significant haul for the end of the campaign.

Polls show the race between Webber and Sherill to be within the margin of error.
