Flags have been ordered to half-staff on Federal and State buildings Sunday, in honor of the National Firefighters Memorial Service. Governor Phil Scott issued the following statement:
"Today, flags will fly at half-staff across the state and country in honor of our fallen firefighters.
"Our emergency services rely on first responders who put the safety of others first, frequently before their own. These men and women step up to help those in need, serving the greater good -- without considering someone's politics, race or creed.
"Today, let's reflect on their dedication, bravery, service and sacrifice, and honor our fallen firefighters by remembering and recommitting to the values they reflect."
