Congresswoman Claudia Tenney: USMCA will Benefit Upstate Dairy Farmers

Today, Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) released the following statement after the United States, Mexico, and Canada announced that an agreement has been reached on the new U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement:
"Unfair trade deals have long disadvantaged local businesses and in particular local family farms, the backbone of our Upstate economy. Early reports of a modernized trade agreement between the U.S., Mexico, and Canada offer welcome news for Upstate dairy farmers," said Rep. Tenney. "The United States, Mexico, Canada Agreement (USMCA) ensures greater access to the Canadian dairy market and the elimination of the Canadian Class 7 milk pricing scheme, a critical priority for which I have long advocated. I look forward to further reviewing the pillars of the agreement over the coming days and weeks."
Congresswoman Tenney has led the charge against the negative impact of the Canadian Class 7 milk pricing scheme. Rep. Tenney recently led a New York delegation letter to US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer emphasizing that the elimination of Class 7 should be a critical priority in any North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) renegotiation.
