Congresswoman Claudia Tenney's Bill, Expanding Oversight of Opioid Prescribing and Payment Act, Headed to President's Desk

Today Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22), member of the Bipartisan Heroin Task Force, announced that her bill, H.R. 5723, the Expanding Oversight of Opioid Prescribing and Payment Act of 2018 was included in H.R. 6, SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act, and is now headed to the Senate and then the President's desk to be signed into law. Through this bill, the House has provided the state of New York $50,521,352 million to combat the opioid crisis.

"As a member of the Bipartisan Heroin Task Force, I am committed to finding a comprehensive and compassionate solution to reverse the tide of the growing opioid addiction plaguing our communities and families. My bill, the Expanding Oversight of Opioid Prescribing and Payment Act works to identify and roll back barriers that have inhibited the use of non-opioid alternatives to treat pain. Often, an addiction to opioids begins with a prescription for pain management," said Rep. Claudia Tenney. "This epidemic has no boundaries and tears families apart. I look forward to its passage in the Senate and President Donald J. Trump swiftly signing this important legislation into law."
