"Today I joined @JanSchakowsky and advocates at @SCN_Network to discuss the Trump administration's shameful decision -- in the midst of the worst refugee crisis in history -- to slash refugee admission levels to a historic low of 30,000."

"Since 1980, the U.S. had resettled an average of over 80,000 refugees per year until President Trump set the admission goal for 2018 at 45,000 and then failed to resettle even half that. This includes just 62 refugees from Syria -- despite there being 5.6 million Syrian refugees."

"This embarrassingly-low number betrays America's values and relinquishes our leadership role in defending human rights. I urge the administration to reconsider and set a higher annual refugee admissions goal. America is better than this."

"Yesterday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan heard Asia Bibi's appeal; she is the first woman in Pakistan sentenced to death on dubious blasphemy charges."

"I have urged for her unconditional release, and included language in the Senate's FY19 International Affairs budget bill that restricts visas for anyone in Pakistan involved in her unjust detention. I hope the Court will make a humane decision quickly."
