Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) today received an endorsement from the LiUNA Local #1140. The union noted Bacon's support for development of infrastructure and the job-creating Keystone XL pipeline, as well as his opposition to the government takeover of healthcare and the "Cadillac tax" on high-end healthcare plans, in their endorsement.
"I'm truly honored to be endorsed by these hardworking men and women," said Bacon. "The members of the LiUNA Local #1140 have built our community, and having their support means a great deal to me. I am not a "cookie-cutter" Republican -- I've reached out to people all over our community, including unions, to gather feedback and learn more about how I can help them be successful. Together, we can bring more liberty, security, and prosperity to Nebraska's Second District."
"Don Bacon is working hard to solve issues impacting working families in Nebraska," said Sam Renshaw, Business Manager for the LiUNA Local #1140. "One of the most pressing concerns we have as members of a union is the threat against our non-profit healthcare plans. We have spent years working for our benefits, and a government takeover of healthcare will strip these benefits away from our families. We strongly support Don Bacon in his re-election, just as he strongly supports us."
This endorsement from LiUNA and their Omaha Local joins a growing list of local and national support for Bacon including the Omaha Police Officers Association, the North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters, every Mayor in Nebraska's Second Congressional District, eight County Sheriffs in and around the District, the Nebraska Farm Bureau, Air Line Pilots Association, North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters, Governor Pete Ricketts, Senator Deb Fischer, the National Federation of Independent Business, Susan B. Anthony List, American Conservation Coalition, and many others.
