New Kara Eastman Ad Tries to Scare Seniors with Lies

Congressman Don Bacon's (NE-02) opponent, Democrat Kara Eastman, released a new ad this week aimed at scaring seniors with lies. Bacon responded with the following statement:

"My opponent's latest attack ad falls far short of the truth. Dishonest attack ads like these are a sign of desperation from a candidate who is failing to win voter support. In 2016, outside groups like those supporting Eastman spent millions of dollars in this district to convince seniors I was opposed to Social Security. Voters knew then it was a lie, and they still know it today.

"We must quickly work to fix Social Security before the funds run out, and I propose raising the retirement age for those currently under 40 as people are now enjoying longer lives. If we don't come together with a solution, future generations will have paid into the system but receive no benefits. As a father and grandfather, that is unacceptable to me.

"I also believe in affordable health insurance for all, including guaranteed coverage for those with pre-existing conditions.

"Nebraskans should question Eastman on her $32 trillion plan for government-run healthcare that will strip quality insurance away from millions of families, her desire to hike income tax rates to ridiculous levels not seen since the Eisenhower era, and her proposal remove all restrictions on abortions.

"Kara Eastman is too radical for Nebraska, plain and simple. And personally, I don't think Nebraskans appreciate this level of dishonesty, especially when it comes from far-left outside groups trying to sway votes."

Bacon's ads have remained positive and focus on his accomplishments as a freshman in Congress.

"Voters will have a choice in November: the lies and scare tactics of radical Kara Eastman, or the civility and integrity of Don Bacon," said Mary Jane Truemper, Bacon's campaign manager. "Eastman knows she is too far left for this district and has views that most Nebraskans don't share. This ad is just her attempt to scare voters into submission, and I know voters won't be fooled by these partisan antics."
