Issue Position: Creating Good Jobs for Coloradans

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2018

While the economy in Colorado is improving quickly, and unemployment is falling, families are still not seeing an increase in their take home pay, and paychecks aren't keeping up with costs. In the legislature, I have focused on building a stronger and more secure middle class through advocating strongly for good-paying jobs, incentivizing job creation right here in Colorado and supporting Colorado workers with the skills and education they need to secure employment. But that's not all; we are the only wealthy country in the world that doesn't have a paid family or medical leave policy for employees, and the overtime rule hasn't kept up with inflation in decades, so people are being forced to work longer hours for no better pay. Enough is enough, we need to pass policies that help hard-working folks in the middle get ahead.
