Hyde-Smith Named to Conference Committee

U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.), who serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee, has been named to the negotiation team that will work to resolve differences on a FY2019 appropriations package to fund federal agriculture, transportation, and other programs.

"I am committed to being a good steward of taxpayer dollars as we try to get the FY2019 funding bills to the President. I consider serving on the conference as an opportunity to reach funding agreements that are good for the nation and Mississippi," Hyde-Smith said.

Hyde-Smith is among 11 Senators named by the U.S. Senate on Thursday to participate on a conference committee that will reconcile differences between the Senate and House on HR.6147, a so-called "minibus" that includes four FY2019 bills:

Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies
Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies
Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies
Financial Services and General Government

Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) successfully set an aggressive FY2019 appropriations schedule. With the naming of conferees on HR.6147, conference committee negotiations are now underway on nine of the 12 annual appropriations bills.
