Debbie Stabenow Needs To Support American Troops As Much As She Needs To Support American Goods

The John James for US Senate campaign called out 43-year career politician Debbie Stabenow for more election-year rhetoric, where Stabenow is calling for goods and uniforms used by our armed services to made in America, while admitting she isn't focused on veterans issues. Stabenow has a record of voting against funding for our troops.

"One of my top priorities will be to help my fellow veterans, including the over 670,000 in Michigan, who are not getting the benefits that they've earned through service," John James said. "I have a plan to get our veterans the access to the quality health care they have earned, and I will adhere to my guiding principles when tackling this crisis. Stabenow's lack of action and awareness on the issues facing my brothers and sisters in arms is unacceptable. It is time for a combat veteran to get real results for all of our Michigan veterans."

"Stabenow is calling on Air Force football uniforms to be made in America, but John James thinks Stabenow should be supporting not just the Air Force, but every other branch of the military," campaign manager Tori Sachs said. "Stabenow voted against emergency funding for our military while John James was fighting in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Stabenow also voted several times to block a pay raise for our military, voted against legislation that would have provided 2.5 billion to help disabled veterans, and against emergency funding for our troops serving in Iraq."

"43-year career politician Debbie Stabenow has some tough words when it comes to the equipment and goods being used by our men and women in uniform, but what about our soldiers?" Sachs continued. "Stabenow, who has been in the Senate for 18 years, made close to $4 million off of the taxpayers, and has only passed 5 bills while in office, openly admitted just a few months ago that she has not been focused on, and was not aware of, issues facing our veterans." John James defeated businessman and self-funder Sandy Pensler in the August 7th primary with 55% of the vote. James raised nearly $5 million in the primary from over 35,000 grassroots donors who along with the over half a million people who voted for James in the primary, make up his grassroots army, the largest in the country this cycle.

After graduating from West Point in 2004, James became a Ranger-qualified aviation officer. He went on to serve with distinction in Operation Iraqi Freedom, logging over 750 combat flight hours while leading two platoons.

After eight years of service to the nation, James returned to Michigan to work in the family business: James Group International. Currently its President, he has led the company from $35 million to $137 million in revenue while creating 100 additional jobs.
