Craig Statement on Lewis's Record of Support for Gutting Coverage for People with Pre-Existing Conditions

As a Texas judge hears oral arguments today on the Republican lawsuit to undo protections for those with pre-existing conditions, Angie Craig released the following statement on Jason Lewis's record of support for taking away healthcare coverage from these individuals.

"Despite more than half of non-elderly residents of the Second Congressional District having a pre-existing condition, Jason Lewis continues to support gutting their coverage. He joined GOP leaders in voting for the American Health Care Act of 2017, which would raise premiums, gut protections for those with pre-existing conditions and impose an age tax on older Americans. He even celebrated his vote in the White House Rose Garden. Lewis's silence on this case proves - yet again - that he is not working to ensure all families have access to the healthcare they need.

"As I travel around the Second District and speak with voters, it is clear that the cost of healthcare is one of their top concerns. Congress must work across party lines to bring down the costs for all families. I know first-hand what it's like to grow up in a family that doesn't always have access to health insurance because you can't afford it. And I know that if it's not affordable, it's not accessible. I will fight in Washington to make sure all families in Minnesota have access to care that they can afford."
