FMCSA Proposes Hours of Service Flexibility for Truck Drivers

Today, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announced it is seeking feedback on proposed hours-of-service changes to provide flexibility for truck drivers. U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), chairman of the Senate Surface Transportation Subcommittee, released the following statement encouraging Nebraskans to submit comments on this rulemaking:

"It's clear that the current hours-of-service requirements should be updated so drivers can complete their hauls in a safe and efficient manner. On several occasions, I have raised Nebraskans' concerns about hours-of-service requirements with both Secretary Elaine Chao and FMCSA Administrator Ray Martinez. I strongly encourage Nebraskans to submit comments on this proposed rulemaking, and I look forward to continuing to work with Nebraskans on this important issue."
