Cramer Statement on Nomination of Lance Yohe to International Joint Commission

Statement

Congressman Kevin Cramer released the following statement about President Trump's announcement today of the nomination of Lance Yohe of Fargo to the International Joint Commission (IJC). Upon approval by the Senate, Yohe will be one of six IJC Commissioners, three each from the United States and Canada.

Cramer is co-chair of the House Northern Border Caucus and a member of the Canada-United States Interparliamentary Group and advocated for Yohe directly with the White House Office of the President.

"For more than 100 years, the IJC has met to resolve conflicts involving the waterways flowing across the 5,500-mile border between United States and Canada. Lance Yohe has been a leader in regional water issues for more than 30 years, and is a recognized authority on regional river basin topics, especially the Red River. As an IJC Commissioner, Lance will bring extensive knowledge of the trans-boundary issues between North Dakota and the provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. I am pleased President Trump recognizes the valuable experience he will bring to the IJC through this appointment, and look forward to working with Lance."
