Today former FEMA chief, Michael Brown testified at a Congressional panel and answered questions by shifting blame to the local and state authorities for the Hurricane Katrina response effort. Below is a statement from Sen. Chuck Schumer:
"The fact that the Administration knew ahead of time that there was a major hurricane that could devastate New Orleans and the Gulf coast only makes things worse.
"How many lives would have been saved, how much money would not have to be spent if those responsible had heeded the warnings of the TV weatherman. The bottom line is that Michael Brown should have practiced the simple Boy Scout motto: be prepared."
