Rep. Boozman Commends Senate Confirmation of John Roberts

Washington, Sep 29 - U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) today issued the following statement on the Senate's confirmation of Judge John Roberts as the next Chief Justice of the Supreme Court:

"I am pleased that the Senate has approved Judge Roberts to be our nation's next Chief Justice. He is a man of remarkable intellect and integrity. Judge Roberts is the right man for the job."

"I am confident John Roberts will be an impartial Chief Justice. He has sound legal judgment and high integrity. He will rule based on existing laws and facts, rather than making new laws and basing decisions on personal opinion."

"Now, our attention turns to the president's pick to replace retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. It is my hope that the president's nomination for that position is treated with the same fairness that Judge Roberts was. A large number of Democrats - including Arkansas' two senators - put partisan politics aside and listened to the will of the American people who want Judge Roberts to preside over the High Court. I hope for a repeat of that when the next nominee comes before the Senate."
