Rosen Commemorates the Anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid, Vows to Protect Both Programs

Statement

Date: July 30, 2018
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congresswoman Jacky Rosen (NV-03) released the following statement on the 53rd anniversary of the bill that led to the creation of Medicare and Medicaid.

"Fifty-three years ago, President Lyndon Johnson signed a bill into law that established Medicare and Medicaid - two vital programs that provide access to health care for more than 1 million Nevadans combined. Despite broad support, too many Republicans in Washington have been relentless in their attempts to cut funding for these programs that cover thousands of seniors, low-income families, and people with disabilities across my district. I will continue fighting in Congress against the threat of cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, and I will keep working across the aisle to advocate for solutions that protect and help improve access to health care for Nevadans."
