Rosen-Backed Bipartisan Legislation Passes to Support Palliative Care and Hospice Education Centers

Today, Congresswoman Jacky Rosen (NV-03), a member of the House Assisting Caregivers Today Caucus, released the following statement after a bipartisan bill she co-sponsored, the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act, passed the House unanimously. H.R. 1676 amends the Public Health Service Act to direct the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to provide awards, grants, career developmental opportunities, and support to physicians, nurses, hospitals, social work schools, medical schools, and other medical institutions to promote education and research in palliative care and hospice, advance academic palliative medicine, and establish and operate Palliative Care and Hospice Centers.

"As the number of Americans with serious illnesses grows, so does the need for specialized medical care," said Rosen. "We can't provide these compassionate, life-enhancing treatment services without enough health care professionals who have the appropriate skills to provide this care. For Nevadans who are facing a serious illness, this bipartisan bill will help ensure there's a well-trained palliative care workforce available to them."
