Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY) issued the following statement on President Trump's nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the United States Supreme Court:

"Throughout his career as a public servant, Judge Brett Kavanaugh has demonstrated a principled commitment to the rule of law, to interpreting the Constitution in accordance with its original meaning, and to the separation of governmental powers as central to our Constitution. As important, he understands the role of a judge, that it is emphatically the province and duty of the judiciary to say what the law is, not what it should be," said Congressman Andy Barr. "He has impressive educational and professional credentials, a sound judicial temperament, and a demonstrated track record of well-written decisions, including opinions affirmed by the Supreme Court more than a dozen times and hundreds of unreversed published opinions. I urge the Senate to act expeditiously and impartially in giving Judge Kavanaugh the opportunity he deserves to serve on our nation's highest court."
