Statement on the Sentencing of Convicted JDL Terrorist Earl Krugel

Congressman Darrell Issa made the following statements about the sentencing of JDL terrorist Earl Krugel who pled guilty and was today sentenced to 20 years for his role in a plot to bomb targets in Southern California including the office of Rep. Darrell Issa:

"I would like to thank the FBI for preventing the conspirators from carrying out their planned acts of terrorism and the many individuals, including the office of the U.S. Attorney, who have worked to bring justice to those who participated in this plot.

"I am thankful to my friends and colleagues, particularly those from the Jewish community, who have condemned these extremists who, motivated by hate and a desire to intimidate, plotted to bomb targets in Southern California.

"I hope that today's sentencing will serve as a strong deterrent to anyone who would consider using violence to express their hatred or to use intimidation to further their political agenda. Such actions are terrorism and our nation must respond strongly so that domestic terrorism is never considered a viable option for those with extreme views."
