There is no question that climate change poses one of the greatest threats of our lifetime -- and the lifetimes of our children and grandchildren. That's why Senator King has continually pushed for legislation that restricts carbon output, promotes clean energy and would lead to a safer, cleaner planet for decades to come -- as well as more jobs for hardworking Mainers today.

Maine's environment -- our rivers and our mountain vistas, our lakes and our coastal waterways -- are invaluable, and should be treated as such. Senator King believes we must do everything in our power to ensure future generations get to enjoy the beauty of our state without fearing that the air they breathe is polluted or that the water they drink is unsafe.

Senator King has fought for funding for the Environmental Protection Agency's Brownfields program -- an initiative that helps clean up communities that have been affected by pollution from hazardous materials. In addition to its huge environmental benefits, more funding for the program would lead to new business opportunities and economic revitalization in districts across the state.
He has introduced legislation that pushes for increased domestic production of renewable energy sources, which would create more jobs at home, reduce dangerous emissions and lower energy prices.
Prioritizing people over profits, Senator King wrote a bill to ensure that consumer prices are prioritized when the federal government makes changes to natural gas import and export policies.
He has also worked to protect Maine's national parks, fighting for funding and additional resources for Acadia National Park.
