As a seasoned member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, Senator King is playing an integral part in ensuring that our government can respond to the myriad threats facing our country, including foreign intruders' attempts to interfere with our elections and endanger our citizens. Senator King has used his role on these committees to become a leading voice in the investigation of Russia's interference in the 2016 general election -- and any link between the Trump campaign and Russia's efforts.

From his first hour on the job, Senator King has sought to be a worthy partner in government for the brave Mainers who wear our uniform and fight for our country overseas, as well as the civilians who work here at home -- at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Bath Iron Works and other sites -- to guarantee that our military has the materials it needs to succeed when it matters most.

He introduced and fought for legislation that would protect America's energy grid from devastating cyberattacks. In a similar vein, he also introduced legislation that would mandate that the government develops policy to decide when a cyberattack should be considered an act of war.
Thanks to Senator King's advocacy, Bath Iron Works has received multibillion dollar contracts to build Navy ships, continuing Maine's long, proud history of leading in this sector.
He also worked alongside the other members of the Maine delegation to convince the Department of Defense to issue American-made shoes to military recruits -- a huge win for the folks working at New Balance factories in the state.
