JB Pritzker Calls on President Trump to Delay Supreme Court Nomination Until After November Election

After Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his retirement, JB Pritzker released the following statement:

"President Trump must delay the nomination of a new Supreme Court Justice until the voters have spoken in November," said JB Pritzker. "We are less than five months before a general election that can shift the makeup of the Senate, and given past precedent set by the Republican Senate leader, Democrats must demand the voters be heard. Fundamental rights, from a woman's right to choose to LGBTQ rights and the right to organize, are at stake here. While Illinois acted to protect a woman's right to choose with the passage of HB 40, the Supreme Court could wipe out that protection at a moment's notice. If Bruce Rauner supports Roe v. Wade like he claims, I urge him to join me in calling on Donald Trump to allow the voters to make their voices heard in November. We cannot turn back the clock on the progress our country has made."
