Today, Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) issued the following statement in response to the failure of the Agriculture and Nutrition Act (H.R. 2) commonly referred to as the Farm Bill:
"After years of distorted global markets and aggressive anti-business policies in Albany, our nation's farmers are hurting. I am deeply disappointed that political gamesmanship prevented the Farm Bill from passing today. After holding listening sessions with farmers throughout the 22nd District, I advocated for their concerns from Washington. The Farm Bill echoed many of the changes recommended during our listening sessions," said Congresswoman Tenney. "I will continue to work to ensure that the Farm Bill is taken up again and that the voice of New York's dairy farmers is heard. Though not perfect, America's farmers deserve the certainty and stability the Farm Bill provided to the agricultural community.
