Reed Statement on Scott Pruitt's Resignation as EPA Administrator

Statement

Date: July 5, 2018
Location: Washington, DC

Today, after Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt offered his resignation to President Trump, U.S. Senator Jack Reed issued the following statement:

"Scott Pruitt should have been fired long ago. He was a toxic presence at the EPA and investigations into his alleged abuses and misdeeds should continue and he must be held accountable.

"The fact that the President accepted his resignation with a flattering tweet shows that this Administration is not seriously committed to upholding high ethical or environmental standards."
