Cornyn Cosponsors Resolution Supporting ICE, Denouncing Calls for Abolition

Statement

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) released the following statement after he introduced a resolution with 14 Republican Senate colleagues denouncing the radical calls for the dissolution of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE):

"The hardworking law enforcement officials at ICE are on the front lines of the fight against human trafficking, child exploitation, and illegal immigration. They deserve our appreciation and respect, not irresponsible calls to end their important work to keep our communities safe," said Sen. Cornyn. "If Democrats who are calling for the abolition of ICE are unhappy with our broken immigration system, I encourage them to work with us on a bipartisan solution."

Sen. Cornyn was joined by Sens. Tom Cotton (R-AR), David Perdue (R-GA), Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Mike Rounds (R-SD), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), John Kennedy (R-LA), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), Jim Inhofe (R-OK), Roy Blunt (R-MO), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Steve Daines (R-MT), Dean Heller (R-NV) and Ron Johnson (R-WI).
