Letter to the Hon. Michael Horowitz, Department of Justice Inspector General - Ask for Names of Unidentified FBI Employees in IG Report

Letter

Dear Inspector General Horowitz,

In the report entitled, A Review of Various Actions by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Department of Justice in Advance of the 2016 Election released last week, there are many serious findings regarding actions of FBI agents who were not directly identified in your report.

For example, one FBI attorney texted "viva le resistance" when asked about his commitment to the incoming Trump administration in November 2016.

Further, the report asserts that FBI employees received questionable gifts from reporters, including tickets to sporting events, drinks and meals, and admittance to nonpublic social events in way that appears to be in exchange for leaking sensitive information to the media.

My colleagues and I are grateful for your work on the investigation; yet in the interest of justice and transparency, we request that you provide the names of the unidentified FBI agents and employees in the report. As representatives of the American people, Congress deserves to know exactly who contributed to the abuse of power at the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI. These individuals need to be held accountable and only transparency will ensure that action.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
