Rosen Statement on House Republicans; Failure to Allow A Vote on Bipartisan Solutions to Fix DACA, Broken Immigration System

Today, Congresswoman Jacky Rosen (NV-03) released the following statement after House Republicans forced a vote on Speaker Ryan's partisan immigration bill, H.R. 6136. The bill was rejected by Democrats and Republicans, failing to pass the House by a vote of 121-301.

"Republican leaders in Congress continue to push a partisan immigration agenda that fails to permanently protect our Dreamers, makes drastic cuts to legal immigration in ways that will hurt Nevada's economy, and doesn't adequately address the humanitarian crisis at our border," said Rosen. "It's time for Congress to stop obstructing votes on bipartisan immigration legislation and work across the aisle on real, long-term immigration solutions."

BACKGROUND: Last week, House Republicans voted on a rule to the Goodlatte bill that effectively invalidated the discharge petition for H.Res. 774, a bipartisan resolution that would have forced floor debate and votes in the House on a solution to fix President Trump's decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Rosen co-sponsored H. Res. 774 earlier this year.
