Wyden, Merkley Announce Americorps for Oregon To Receive $6.8 Million

Sens. Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley said today that Oregon organizations will receive more than $6.8 million in funding from the federal agency that administers AmeriCorps and other national service programs.

"Americorps volunteers build stronger communities with their service and earn experience for a lifetime," Wyden said. "These programs in Portland, Eugene and Bend exemplify the Americorps spirit, and deserve congratulations for earning these resources that will help Oregonians."

"The positive impact AmeriCorps volunteers have on our communities is indisputable," Merkley said. "They exemplify the Oregon spirit of service and collaboration to solve problems, and these grants will help continue that important work."

As a result of the FY2018 AmeriCorps State and National Grant Competition, the Oregon organizations receiving resources from the Corporation for National and Community Service are as follows:

Heart of Oregon, Bend, $573,280
College Possible, Portland, $356,001
Food Corps, Portland, $1.21 million
Jesuit Volunteer Corps, Portland, $2.4 million
Northwest Youth Corps, Eugene, $269,524

On top of the $4.8 million in grants allocated among the Oregon organizations, these Oregon groups will also receive an additional $2 million to be allocated later.
