U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) today released the following statement after the election of Andrés Manuel López Obrador as President of Mexico.
"I congratulate the people of Mexico on democratically electing a new leader. While I have serious philosophical differences with the newly elected President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Mexico is an important partner of the United States. We should work to continue to strengthen the rule of law and democratic governance for a stable and secure hemisphere."
