Hoyer Statement on Republicans' Partisan DOJ Document Request Resolution

Statement

Date: June 28, 2018
Location: Washington, DC

House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today on the House vote on H. Res. 970, a partisan resolution to undermine the DOJ and Special Counsel Mueller's investigation:

"Today's resolution, while unenforceable, is wholly inappropriate and a blatant attempt to undermine the Special Counsel's investigation. This vote puts Republican Members on record when it comes to the question of whether law enforcement agencies in our country ought to be able to perform their jobs independently and free from the taint of politics. It is essential that Congress not meddle in an ongoing criminal investigation."
