Sandoval Breaks with Heller, Asks Trump Administration to Reverse Attack on Protections for Pre-Existing Conditions

Once again on health care, Heller finds himself at odds with Sandoval and out of touch with Nevadans

Nevada Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval joined a bipartisan group of governors yesterday in calling on the Trump Administration to reverse its harmful move in court attacking the Affordable Care Act's coverage protections for people with pre-existing conditions as "unconstitutional."

Meanwhile, Nevada Sen. Dean Heller has declined to denounce the Trump Administration's efforts to get rid of these vital coverage protections. When asked directly last week, Heller's office refused to answer whether Heller disagrees with the Trump Administration's argument.

Of course, this isn't the first time Heller and Sandoval have been at odds on health care policy -- Sandoval spoke up repeatedly last year against Heller-backed Republican plans to dismantle the Affordable Care Act.

Rosen for Nevada spokesperson Molly Forgey released the following statement:

"Once again, Sen. Heller finds himself at odds with Gov. Sandoval and out of touch with Nevadans on one of their top concerns in 2018. After Sen. Heller put his name on radical partisan legislation that would have weakened coverage protections for pre-existing conditions, it's no surprise he doesn't have the backbone now to stand up against the Trump Administration's assault on coverage protections for pre-existing conditions. Unlike Dean Heller, Jacky Rosen will never be afraid to put partisan politics aside and fight for access to affordable health care for every Nevadan."
