Capito, Shelby Statement on Working With President Trump to Fund Homeland Security Priorities

U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), chair of the Senate Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, and Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) today released the following statement after meeting with President Donald J. Trump to discuss the FY2019 Homeland Security Appropriations Act:

"We are on the same page as President Trump. Our highest priority is securing the U.S. border. The Senate bill puts a major down payment on the larger efforts underway to pass immigration reform and secure funding for border security."

The Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee will meet tomorrow to mark up the FY2019 Homeland Security funding measure.
