JB Pritzker Demands Rauner Retract Commitment to Send Illinois National Guard to Border

While the Rauner campaign says Rauner "won't hesitate to speak out when he thinks the president is wrong," Donald Trump's administration is separating children from their parents at the U.S. border, and Rauner has failed to call on Trump to end the policy. Today, JB Pritzker is demanding that Rauner formally retract his commitment to send the Illinois National Guard to help enforce Trump's immoral immigration policy.

"Donald Trump is heartlessly ripping apart immigrant families, and Bruce Rauner is silently standing by," said JB Pritzker. "Months ago, this governor offered the Illinois National Guard to this racist, bigoted president and now refuses to call on Trump to end this horrific policy. By not rescinding his offer, Rauner is helping Trump enforce a policy that goes against the same values our nation was founded on. He's carrying on in complicit silence while Trump forces families to live in fear. When I'm governor, I will make Illinois a truly welcoming state for immigrant families and resist this president's destructive agenda."
