Issue Position

Our nation is in dire need of health care reform. Throughout all of 2017, I conducted a Health Care Listening Tour and heard from constituents all across the First District. What I heard is that ObamaCare has failed and is forcing families to pay higher and higher premiums only to receive a lower quality of care. I agree, and I have voted dozens of times to repeal the Affordable Care Act. This December, Congress repealed the individual mandate, giving more freedom back to Americans. I also voted last year to repeal ObamaCare and replace it with the American Health Care Act. Although not perfect, this legislation that would have given individuals and their families more choice at an affordable cost. I am dedicated to finding a legislative fix that will expand choices, increase access, and reduce costs.Securing funding for the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is vital. This program provides low-cost health care coverage to children in states that earn too much money to qualify for Medicaid. I have voted to reauthorize CHIP many times, including the Bipartisan Budget Act that reauthorizes CHIP for six years and provides two years of increased funding for federal community health centers.
