Issue Position: Holding Washington Accountable

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2018

President Trump promised to drain the swamp. But let's face it: Washington is even worse today than when Congressman Frelinghuysen took office almost a quarter-century ago. When our political leaders spend more time fundraising than fixing problems, our communities suffer as a result. In Congress, I'll support campaign finance reform and measures that work to overturn Citizens United. We need to reduce the influence of money in our politics.

It's also time we crack down on waste in government -- like cabinet secretaries flying private jets on our dime. Here in New Jersey, we just lived through eight years of the Christie Administration, and we know first-hand what it's like when power goes unchecked. Bridges are shut down, taxes are raised, and the people who are hurt the most are ordinary citizens.

In Washington, I will make sure the people of New Jersey and the 11th District come first. We need servant leaders who are ready to ensure the people they represent have a direct say on what happens in Washington. In Congress, I'll be committed to transparency and to comporting to the highest ethical standards, and that's why I will make my congressional schedule public and hold town-halls.

It is time we put the people of the 11th Congressional District first.
