As a former Navy pilot and federal prosecutor, I've spent my adult life fighting to keep our country safe. In Congress, our security will be my top priority.

We must work hard to contain the nuclear threats posed by North Korea and Iran. With Iran, this starts with strongly enforcing the nuclear agreement, including regular inspections of suspected nuclear sites. But the nuclear deal alone will not solve all our problems with Iran. We must also look at Iran's behavior outside of its nuclear program, including working to curtail its ballistic missile program, its support for terrorism, and its despicable human rights record.

Kim Jong-un and his regime in North Korea pose a serious threat to the United States and our allies. I support a robust US military presence in the region, the further development of a layered missile defense program to defend the United States, our regional allies, and our troops abroad, and a fully staffed State Department to carry out the hard, necessary work of strategic and sustained diplomacy. Every option should be on the table to prevent North Korea from advancing its weapons programs further.

Furthermore, we cannot let up on our fight against ISIS. We need to ensure that terrorism abroad does not come home. We must remain vigilant in cutting off ISIS propaganda and recruitment over social media in the United States. And our state and local law enforcement agencies need better resources, training, and coordination to fight domestic terrorism. When it comes to meeting these challenges, we cannot go it alone. Our allies need to share in the funding of these priorities.

Finally, I am proud of the role our district plays in our national defense. I'll always fight for Picatinny Arsenal and the 5,000 critical jobs it supports right here in Morris County.
