Issue Position: Advancing U.S. Space Program

Issue Position

As the chairman of the House Space Subcommittee, I am firmly committed to establishing a clear path for our national space program. During the Obama Administration, NASA was too often distracted from its core mission -- human space flight. In Congress, I have been working to restore NASA's core human space flight missions, including trips to the Moon and Mars. As Chairman, I helped shepherd legislation through the committee to build a stronger commercial space industry by passing the first update to the Commercial Space Launch Act in more than a decade. We are also working to reduce excessive regulatory burdens so that the U.S. is and remains the worldwide center for commercial space. By ensuring America is the world leader in space, we will also help American war fighters and enhance our national defense.
