U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, issued the following statement after the Committee approved the nomination of Gina Haspel, the President's nominee to be Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
"It was clear from Gina Haspel's recent testimony, record of service, and exemplary character that the only choice in front of the committee was to report her favorably today. Democrats still have an opportunity to drop their reflexive, transparent opposition to the most qualified nominee in the agency's history. I look forward to confirming her as the first female Director of the CIA soon."
