U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released the following statement today after the White House announced that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is returning from North Korea after freeing three American hostages:

"I applaud Secretary of State Pompeo and the Trump Administration for securing the release of three U.S. citizens who were wrongly detained in North Korea. While we face many challenges ahead, this is an important development for these Americans and their families -- and for our country."
