On the fourth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001, our nation grieves another tragedy. Hundreds of thousands of our fellow Americans struggle to regain hope amidst the unspeakable death and destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina.
The spirit that united our proud nation to overcome the threat of terrorism lives on today. We will forever remember the 3000 men and women who lost their lives on September 11th. We will always be united, not only in sorrow, but in determination to protect our great nation. Once again we must come together as one nation to bring relief to the victims of Katrina who deserve our nation's full support.
We stand together to honor first responders, relief workers and military personnel who are helping, healing and saving lives as we did on September 11th. Our federal government must again act to provide the necessary relief to our fellow citizens. We must again make a long-term commitment to the well-being of our people.
These horror of September 11th, 2001 and Hurricane Katrina have changed lives forever, and our federal government has the responsibility to act to restore our nation. Our nation will recover, but we must again unite as one.
