U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen released the following statement in response to the U.S. military action in Syria:

"While I've consistently supported limited, proportionate strikes to enforce the international ban on the use of chemical weapons, any broader U.S. military actions in Syria -- or in any other region -- would require Congressional authorization."
