Rep. Tulsi Gabbard Calls on EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt to Resign

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) and a bicameral coalition of 170 Members of Congress today introduced a joint resolution calling on Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt to resign. Citing Administrator Pruitt's failure to carry out the mission of the EPA, gross misuse of taxpayer dollars, disregard for ethics, and more, the lawmakers demanded the immediate resignation of Pruitt and urged President Trump to appoint a new Administrator committed to the Agency's founding purpose to protect human health and the environment.

Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard: "The mission of the EPA is "to protect human health and the environment.' To do so, the Agency needs to be led by someone who is committed to fulfilling that mission. Administrator Pruitt has failed to live up to that standard -- wasting hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars and putting corporate profits before the well-being of the American people and our environment. We need an EPA leader who is dedicated to carrying out its mission, and who is accountable to the people of this country."

Background: Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard has been a champion for the environment throughout her life. In Congress, she introduced landmark legislation the Off Fossil Fuels for a Better Future Act (OFF Act) (H.R. 3671),which will put the United States on a pathway to replace fossil fuels with 100 percent clean energy generation and use by 2035.
