Today, Congresswoman Jacky Rosen (NV-03) announced that she has formally introduced H.R. 5463, The Creating Tech Startup Jobs Act, a bill that would incentivize research and development hiring at tech startups through new tax credits and promote angel investment. Rosen unveiled this job-creating legislation and discussed her pro-business record at a Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce event last week.
"My new legislation will help create jobs at small business tech startups that invest heavily in research and development, which are increasingly calling Nevada home," said Rosen. "I'm determined to put forward and support policies like this that will strengthen our small business community and diversify Nevada's economy."
BACKGROUND: The Creating Tech Startup Jobs Act helps create jobs at small business tech startups by providing tax credits for hiring workers in R&D jobs and incentivizing expansion of R&D at small startups. This legislation would also encourage angel investment in tech startups by providing tax credits for investment in research-heavy businesses that are less than 10 years old that have fewer than 100 employees.
Rosen was one of a small group of Democrats to receive the U.S. Chamber's Spirit of Enterprise Award, which is given annually to members of Congress based on their votes on critical business legislation as outlined in the Chamber's "How They Voted " scorecard. Members who supported the Chamber's position on at least 70 percent of those votes qualify to receive the award. Nevada is home to more than 200,000 small businesses.
