House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement after Entergy Louisiana announced it is using $210 million in savings from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to reduce electricity rates for customers and upgrade its infrastructure in the state.
"Since the passage of our Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, good news for families has not stopped. Families in Louisiana will now be seeing lower electricity rates because of our tax cuts bill, and the timing couldn't be better with summer approaching. Families win twice because they will now have lower utility bills and bigger paychecks each month as a direct result of the law recently enacted by Republicans in Congress working with President Trump. I applaud Entergy for acting quickly and cutting utility rates because of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act," said Whip Scalise.
Entergy joins several other utility companies across the country who have announced lower rates for their consumers, directly passing on the savings they see under the law.
