Weber Statement on Tax Day

Statement

Date: April 17, 2018
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Taxes

April 17, 2018, is the filing deadline for 2017 taxes. This is the last Tax Day that Americans will use the outdated, complicated system to file their taxes. In recognition of this moment, Congressman Randy Weber (R -- Friendswood) released the following statement:

"This is it -- the last time Americans will file their taxes using the old, broken system. For years, Tax Day has brought monumental headaches and frustrations. With the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, passed and signed into law last December, that burden is lifted.

"From here on out, we have cause to celebrate -- lower tax rates for Americans, nearly doubled standard deductions, doubled tax credits, relief from Obamacare's individual mandate, and a simpler filing process.

"The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is working for Americans. Unemployment is at a 17-year low, confidence is at a 17-year high, and the manufacturing sector is on the rise. You don't have to look far to see the positive effects it's bringing to our families, businesses, and economy."
