Congresswoman Claudia Tenney: It's Time to End China's Theft of American Intellectual Property

Statement

Date: April 5, 2018
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Trade

Today, Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) released the following statement regarding the US Trade Representative's (USTR) release of a preliminary list of products to be covered by import tariffs to end Chinese intellectual property theft and forced technology transfers:

"America can no longer stand idly by as China continues to engage in unfair trade practices that harm the stability and success of American consumers and businesses. Tariffs are a responsible and important step to hold China accountable for its theft while protecting American interests and ingenuity. China has engaged in predatory and often illegal trade practices for too long and American policy makers are correct to respond," said Congresswoman Claudia Tenney. "China's theft costs the United States between $225 and $600 billion annually. It's time to reverse this trend, level the playing field and protect American ingenuity. The economic and national security interests of the United States are at stake."
