Congresswoman Claudia Tenney Leads the Fight for Increased Funding for Civil Air Patrol

Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (R-NY) is leading the fight to increase funding for the Civil Air Patrol in the 2019 Fiscal Year Budget. Rep. Tenney led a bipartisan letter to highlight the need for additional funding for important operations and maintenance needs and vehicle and aircraft procurement. The Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary force of the U.S. Airforce, plays a key role in supporting both defense and homeland security operations throughout the nation. Among its many functions, the Civil Air Patrol trains interceptor pilots and unmanned aerial vehicle operators, and responds to a range of federal emergency situations. Over 80 members joined Rep. Tenney's letter.

"The Civil Air Patrol serves our communities across the nation by providing emergency services as well as educational and training programs. As an all-volunteer force, the Civil Air Patrol has selflessly served the American people for 75 years in times of war and peace. This small increase in funding will ensure that the Civil Air Patrol in the 22nd District, and throughout the nation, are equipped with the necessary tools to keep our communities safe," said Congresswoman Claudia Tenney. "This past year, the Civil Air Patrol displayed its importance as it served communities struck by natural disasters and assisted in recovery efforts. That is why I am leading the fight in Congress to ensure that the program receives the funding necessary to continue its critical work in 2019."
