DeLauro Announces Federal Grant for City of East Haven
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn.-3) today announced a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Justice in the amount of $12,759 for the City of East Haven. The funding will allow the city to purchase updated mobile data units for police patrol cars.
"Providing local law enforcement with technology to increase communications greatly impacts the safety of our community," said DeLauro. "I am delighted to announce this grant, which will benefit all East Haven residents."
"This new funding enables the East Haven Police Department to complete an update of its mobile data system for every patrol car in the city," said Police Chief Leonard Gallo. "This technology is an extremely effective crime-fighting tool and one that will no doubt serve the police department and citizens of the city in a great way."
The funding was provided under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program, which allows state and local governments to prevent and control crime
