House of Representatives Fails to Pass Right to Try

Statement

Date: March 13, 2018
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Biggs issued the following statement after the House of Representatives failed to pass the Trickett Wendler, Frank Mongiello, Jordan McLinn, and Matthew Bellina Right to Try Act of 2018 on suspension:

"I am disappointed in tonight's result. Terminally ill patients around the country are searching for a glimmer of hope to save their lives, but partisan obstruction has delayed passage of this legislation. I'm grateful for all of my colleagues -- on both sides of the aisle -- who rallied together to better the lives of our fellow Americans. We must not stop trying to pass the Right to Try. I call on our leadership to put Senator Ron Johnson's bill on the House floor for an up-or-down vote. I am confident that this version would pass, sending it to the President's desk for his signature. Time is of the essence for terminally ill patients; we must act immediately."
